PASSENGER VANS: DESIGN AND SPECIFICATIONS
Passenger vans are a group of rubber-tired vehicles, small class buses for transporting passengers. They are universally applied by transport companies on urban and intercity routes.
This group includes both actual passenger vans, whose main purpose is exclusively transportation of people, and various combined cargo-and-passenger options, which are equipped with a certain number of seats, as well as with special compartments for cargo. Slightly different varieties of similar vehicles are the minivans and the pickup trucks.
However, despite the structural differences, one can easily identify some of the main features of this class of motor vehicles. Passenger vans are equipped with two wheel axles, have a rather small body length and weight (up to 5.5 meters and 3.5 tons respectively). Moreover, what concerns the exclusively passenger variation, the number of seats does not exceed sixteen. The basis of the power unit of most contemporary models is diesel internal combustion engine (less frequently - petrol or gas engine).
