FLATBED TRAILERS: MAIN FEATURES AND CHARACTERISTICS
The flatbed trailer is a type of open-body cargo trailers, a cargo platform with boards on four sides.
Flatbed trailer is perhaps one of the most common types of trailers in the world, not least because of its ease in use, low cost, wide scope of application and a great number of modifications with regard to volume and capacity. They are widely used in various domains of agriculture, municipal services, construction and industry. Wherever there is a regular need to transport goods whose preservation does not depend on the impact of environmental factors, one can find flatbed trailers. They perfectly cope with transportation of sand, gravel, soil, bricks; industrial, agricultural and construction waste; silage, hay (for this purpose, special modifications with increased boards are used) and many others types of goods both in and without containers.
The vast majority of flatbed trailers has one or more hinged boards (most common are three-sided trailers), which makes the loading and unloading operations significantly easier and faster. Such trailers are used in concatenation with tractor units, tractors, trucks, and, if the body volume is small, with passenger cars. If necessary, a flatbed trailer can be quite easily converted into tilt trailer.
