I had the opportunity to try out the Volvo FH model recently. The new D13TC engine is impressively quiet, especially noticeable during long hauls. The I-Save feature, with its advanced cruise control system, optimizes fuel usage effectively. However, I found the additional torque somewhat marginal for my needs in mountainous terrain. Overall, it's a reliable tractor unit worth considering.

Recently drove a fully loaded FH model. Performance was as expected for a 500 hp engine, maintaining speed on inclines effortlessly. Noticed a slight delay with adaptive systems when engaging. This truck stands out in terms of power and ease of handling.

Ran this FH13 for a couple thousand klicks last month. Most stuff just works. The cabin is quiet and roomy, even tried the Globetrotter XL for a night and actually managed to snooze pretty well. Not every corner in the cab is easy to clean, though. I like the engine, it’s got power for days, but with all the emissions gear and that fancy fuel rail, it’s not fun when you gotta service it and you’re far from a dealership. Shifting is smooth, especially in auto, but I’d rather have the 14-speed manual for those sketchy hills. I feel like it’s built to last, barely got any rattles. Honestly though, you still gotta budget a lot for service if you want everything to keep running smooth.

I had a chance to test out the Volvo FH 500 recently. First thought? It's powerful enough. The 12.8-liter engine delivers reliable performance with 2800 Nm of torque. One thing that stood out was the handling - it’s quite responsive for a loaded truck. However, the windscreen could offer better visibility. On the fuel economy trial, I achieved 8.27 mpg, which isn't groundbreaking but acceptable.
