Isothermal semi-trailers

Isothermal semi-trailer is a type of closed body semi-trailers intended for transportation of perishable goods.

Preservation of many cargoes (for example, of food products and medicines) depends on special conditions of transportation and, especially, on sustaining of stable temperatures. One of the solutions to this problem is usage of isothermal semi-trailers, because their functional characteristics include sustaining stable temperatures inside the working volume of the body independent of outside temperatures.

The walls of such framed van are made of sandwich-panels and have a thermal insulating layer of foam plastic, urethane plastic foam or foam polystyrene. The inner upholstering is often made of sheet galvanized metal, which, together with hermetically sealed doors, allows boosting heat-insulating features of this type of semi-trailers.

It is important to remember that isothermal semi-trailer, unlike refrigerator semi-trailer, is not equipped with refrigerating machines and, consequently, is not capable of freezing anything, and sustaining the stable initial temperatures of the transported goods happens only due to the heat-insulating qualities of the material the semi-trailer is made of.
