Glass transport trailer is a special type of cargo trailer for transporting glass, mirrors, insulating glass units, plasterboard and other fragile sheet materials. Glass transport trailer is, in fact, a cargo platform mounted on the frame of a one- to three-axle chassis of a cargo trailer. One of the most important elements of its equipment is so-called pyramid - a special frame construction which allows to fix the glass sheets in a near-vertical position (this is the safest method of glass transportation with regard to avoiding damage to glass). All pyramids can be clearly divided into two main types, according to the principle of cargo placement: L-type racks are loaded from one side only, whereas A-type racks are loaded from both sides. At the same time, swivel straps are used to prevent the glass from moving.

Special requirements are put forward to the shock absorber system of the glass transport trailers, because cargo security directly depends on the smoothness of movement and absence of significant jolts. To provide additional safety of the glass and to avoid shears and scratches, special cushions and gaskets are widely used in the course of loading.
